A church wedding and ring finger

Yesterday I attended a colleague Church wedding ceremony, solemn and with love. Again, I am not a Christian, but I think one of the chapter below sing in the ceremony is nice to share.

First Corinthians, Love from chapter thirteen:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never ends.

After that is the ring exchange ceremony, the priest requested all audience to do one exercise. Connect your fingers like picture below, the bend the middle finger downwards. Try it out.

Without moving the intact middle finger at all, try to separate the thumbs, connect it back, then the index fingers. Repeat it for ring fingers and lastly little fingers.

Find something interesting? Oh yes, you will find that the ring fingers cannot be separated at all, this is one of the reason it is for ring and called ring finger :D

Thanks SP for the demonstration picture :)
SS&AT, 祝你执子之手,与子皆老 :)

  4. Don't move other finger at all, middle fingers must be tightly intact as shown in the picture, can you still move it? Is it painful?

If so, here is the explanation. The priest mentioned, even though some people might be able to separate it, but it 'should be' quite painful, analogically to the painful divorce :)
