Please, lower down your volume

If you do have karaoke set or hifi set at home, can you please lower down the volume, close all the windows and door so that your voice won't interrupt other people sleeping? This is the reason a person who used to sleep at 10.30pm still awake near to 12am. I couldn't fall asleep for more than an hour due to the 'super band' karaoke at the housing area.

If you do like to sing at night, please please please, lower down the volume and close all windows and doors, or go to Karaoke box. If you do know your friend love to sing at night, please share with them the same, to keep a peaceful residential area.

* I did call to the police station for help. The officer told me over the phone "Kalau awak tak tahu rumah mana, susahlah, saya tak bolek buat apa-apa." If I know which house, I would have go knock his house directly, I don't need you. If the band is still working after 12am, I will insist to have the police to come 'ronda'. Too bad it is not yet after 12am. Oh thank god, it started to rain heavily. Thank you my lovely sky.

Smith chart

When I was tidy up the closet many days ago, I found this piece of chart. This is a Smith chart.
I stared at it for few minutes and my mind was blank. Oh my God, I used to know how to use it to solve radio frequency problem. I wiki on Smith Chart and the terms are so familiar but yet so far. My dear reader, how many percent of your text book knowledge have you returned to your lecturer? ;)

Post?

In this e-world, do you still send letters/cards/postcards by ground post? I still do sometimes, when travel or during special occasions. So do some of my friends. I usually keep those but some were lost when I was moving I think. Here are few I managed to keep and some of them were handmade. The wishes/message when I was abroad or in local do keep me warmed :) Thanks to all my friends.

A carriage wedding in Penang

It is my first time seeing a carriage wedding.



It does slow down the traffic but luckily it was Sat, so it was not too bad.

The new couple, all the best, although I don't know who both you are :p

Sun shade or 'car shade'?

I know, it is hot here in Malaysia, that we need to put on sun shade. But I hope, if you used to do like the car owner below, putting sun shade at the back windscreen while driving, I hope you can kindly spend 2 minute to put it down before start driving.





Why? It block the view of vehicle behind you, which make it dangerous. No? Have you heard of 飞蚊症 floater, with a small mosquito always in your eye sight is so annoying, needless to say such a big blockage :)

A special CNY card

Just a day earlier before I off for CNY holiday, I received a handmade CNY card. Thanks SP and KH :D It was really surprised and I really appreciate the unique handmade CNY card, it is really nice:D I can imagine the hand will be very painful using the punch for so many times, almost want to cry now ;)

Welcome to Toast Master

If you ever think speaking skills is a nature talent, I guess a lot of successful people will tell you, It is not a gift but effort. Yes, I believe anyone can speak, can speak well if they put in effort to learn and improve themselves, as if anyone can walk, can dance :D

There are many ways to learn public speaking skills, read book, join public speaking class/training, e.g. Toast Master.

Upon singing up, you will receive a welcome kit. For my case, the kit is sent from US to Malaysia, took around two weeks upon signed up. If not mistaken, the sign up fee is around RM 80. (Forgive this forgetful lady who can't remember well ;) ) Then you have to pay club fee which vary depending on which club you joined.



There are few booklet inside to guide you on how to get started, including some skills sharing.


I joined a Mandarin club, thus some booklet is in Mandarin.

KBox Karaoke @ Ipoh Jaya Jusco

If you wish to sing karaoke in Ipoh, there is no Red Box nor Neway, you may consider KBox karaoke. It is a chain karaoke store. We went to the one in Jaya Jusco Kinta City Ipoh.

The shop open on 12pm. We went to the per head charges package, RM 21++ for adult, RM 13 for student (present your student card during registration), minimum 2 tidbit at RM 3 each for 4 person, then you may sing for 3 hours.



The first time we went, the room is nice, and each person is given a wireless mic. The second time we went, we got an older room with only 3 wire mic, and the room is icy cold! If you are in doubt, look at their TV screen below. We requested the blanket, but still I felt I am in hibernate mode because of the coldness and not much mood to sing :p


In overall, the song selection interface is quite user friendly. There are some new song, quite updated. But english song selection is usually lesser, as that of RedBox also. As for the service, still okay.

A good practice of mine for every new year, review what I did well, what I need to improve. For the coming year, ask myself what to do in the new coming year, and of course, be always happy :D

Jam of Plus North South Highway - Dec 27

It is school year end long holiday now, conjunction with the 3 days Christmas day long weekend holiday, I am expecting some traffic heavy load on PLUS north south highway when return to Penang on Dec 27 evening. As compared to Haji long weekend holiday, the traffic seems to be smoother at first, at least I didn't see any jam at Kuala Kangsar toll.

Five minutes later, sister whose driving towards south bound called me and said it started to jam somewhere near Sg Perak bridge. The average speed is around 20-30kmh. I told her for area before Kuala Kangsar, it seems to be better than Haji holiday, just around 8 km jam somewhere near Taiping, probably due to going up slope, as it was clear after that slope, and another few kilometers jam due to the heavy rain near Bukit Gantang. After Juru toll, there was around 3km of traffic queue entering toll plaza towards south bound. Besides too many car is entering the highway, 2 minor accidents contributing to the jam also. Both cases are the same, 'bumper kissing' case. My dear reader, I hope you always keep a safe distance of approximate 1 -2 car with the car in front of you and 3-4 car distance on the highway :). Tailgating is always not good. Another rule of thumb is, it will be high risk if you cannot see the front wheel of the car in front of you.

As for my trip towards north, this time there were two jam due to driving altitude. One is near Serdang of 10 km queue. I didn't see any accident or anything, most probably was due to a vehicle at fast lane driving at similar speed of the car in slow lane, which both of them are less than 80kmh. The later jam was of 8 km is caused by all car slowing down to look at what happened to the car stopping at emergency lane. Well, these are Malaysian driving altitude that need to be improved. Queue effect is yet to be taught, to make more driver realize that slowing down just to be busy body, can caused few kilometers jam at the back. This is very similar to the condition at Penang Bridge, where one side accident will caused both way to be jam, because of 'busy body' slowing down. This was then led to the high divider of Penang bridge, if you ever notice.

Oh before I ended, if you see lots of swallow on your way too, it's near the season :)
